I don't want to sing, I would rather just play an instrument - is this possible?
Yes! Our gift experiences are open to singers, artists, bands, musicians, DJ's, choirs, Jazz ensembles, barber quartets ......infact anyone who wants to record anything at all ! The studio is yours for the allocated time and you can (within reason !) do what you want. Just be sure to let us know your intentions.

Can I bring spectators to watch me
Although the studio is fairly large, we aim to restrict to a maximum of 10 persons at any time including spectators. As a rule we allow up to four spectators for singer experiences. They are free to watch, cheer, laugh, heckle, inspire, or boo you, and may take photographs and video footage as desired.

I want more studio time
Not a problem. You can upgrade your voucher to the maximum 4 hour "Megastar" package by simply paying the difference in price of the experiences. If you want more time after that, then we can offer you exclusive studio rates. Please contact us for more information or to upgrade your experience.

Can I get backing tracks in advance to practice?
Yes, and we highly recommend it. Once you've contacted us to book your session and told us of the songs you would like to perform, we can send the backing tracks to you by Email (MP3) or on CD to practice. If there rae any problems with the tracks (i.e. you want them in a different key, or it is not the right song or version) let us know and we will endeavor to find the required version for you.

How good will the final CD be?
We use some of the best backing tracks available, with identical replication of the original version and at very high audio quality.
Our studio uses some of the latest technology and we have very experienced sound engineers guaranteed to get great results.

The vocal / music performance is down to you. We will help, encourage and advise you throughout your experience, and we can often make improvements to the vocal and instruments in the mix by adding some processors and effects to add that professional shine, but for truly great CD, your performance must be good. That said, most people (of all abilities) are generally surprised how good the final CD sounds!

What's your top tip to get the best out of my gift experience?
Without question is to practice the chosen song(s) before your big day, preferably to just the backing track (which we are happy to send you in advance). It is very different singing to a backing track alone without the lead vocal to guide you. You wont have on-screen lyrics for you to follow like in live karaoke events (you can of course have a copy of the lyrics!) so you will need to know the song.

Your advice says allow (on average) an hour to record and mix a song - is this right?
Generally yes. You need to allow time to arrive, discuss the procedure, run through the song, record your actual takes, listen back to check all is OK, re-record any parts that are not so good, edit parts if required, set up a mix of your songs adding effects and processors, mix the song and then finally burn your CD !!!   PHEW !!!

Its a long process, and the actual recording of your vocal can often be the quick part !
One hour "Silver" experiences are generally very rushed, Its not a lot of time to do all the above and you will only get chance for a few attempts at recording your song so you need to be rehearsed. If in doubt, order an additional hour by upgrading the package.
If you already have the gift, contact us to arrange this - its not a problem.

For the experienced, and the longer gift experiences, it is very possible to record and mix many more songs, and often when performers are up an running there's no stopping them !

Can I sell my finished CD
Generally yes, but if you are recording another persons song, you will need to obtain permission from the composer / publisher first. This usually isn't a problem and we can advise you how to do this.

I want more copies of my finished CD
Not a problem. We can discuss your requirement after your recording session and advise you of the available options depending on your requirements. Our CD design, mastering and replication are very competitive and the more you have, the cheaper it is!
